2015 Beauty Favorites

Happy New Year everyone! So I guess this is my first official 2016 post! Usually, I have my own monthly beauty favorites, but for December, it makes most sense to round up all of my favorite products I purchased all of 2015. I admit that I purchased A LOT, some of which I've been wanting for a while, and most of which I bought impulsively. I don't want to make that same mistake in 2016, especially because this is the year I have to be financially smart...especially because of my bills, student loans and wedding. I only want to buy what I really need, new products I think I would actually love (and not just to buy for the sake of writing a blog review), and stuff I've been eyeing for (the Clarisonic). So without further ado, here's the products I've loved and used:

Too Faced Semi-Sweet Chocolate Bar Palette: I bought the Original Chocolate Bar in 2014, and of course I couldn't resist the new Semi-Sweet version that came out, and I reviewed it here. This palette is more up my alley because of the warmer tones, although I do love the original just as much. This palette has been in 3 states, since I took it with me when I traveled to New York and Hawaii last year. It's really versatile, and there is a black shade you can use as eyeliner. As you can see, I have used the shade Caramel (the gold shade on the bottom middle) a lot. I can't wait to get my Chocolate Bon Bons palette in the mail!

MAC Lipsticks: I have purchased a lot of MAC lipsticks this year (more than I am proud of) but my top 3 favorite shades are D for Danger, Retro, and Diva. D for Danger is a dark berry pink that is wearable all-year round, especially for the fall. I remember in the beginning of 2015, I was debating to get Diva or Rebel (another vampy MAC lipstick), and though I was leaning towards Rebel, I am so glad I got Diva. It's a beautiful maroon shade that suits all skin tones. I did a review for both here. And last but not least is Retro, one of my signature everyday shades. I love it so much because it's versatile and you can use it for work, casual days, etc. I've worn this for job interviews, a night out, even for my graduation! It's a reddish-brown shade that suits my tan skin.

BECCA x Jaclyn Hill (Champagne Pop): I've been a follower of Jaclyn Hill, so when I saw that she was coming out with a new highlighter, I was intrigued. Also, Champagne Pop is a rose-gold highlighter, so it really makes my skin tone pop. I feel like a golden goddess with it! At $38, this is the most I've spent on a highlighter, but I know it'll last me a long time because I have barely made a dent on it.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Ginger): I've been using this for the dark circles under my eyes, and it covers them really well! I admit, it doesn't cover everything because I have pretty serious dark circles, but I need to get in the habit of using eye cream and sleeping better, but it really does the trick on the days when my circles are not as dark and puffy!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara: I've never met a mascara that was curling, lengthening, and thickening at the same time! The BTS mascara is a holy grail for many a blogger, and I can see why. The tube is longer and thicker than most mascaras, but it makes it easier to control the wand. The price is steep at $23, but it's worth every penny.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment (Passion): I bought this from the November Sephora VIB sale, and it is a lovely red-tinted lip balm, and it's soft texture is perfect for keeping lips moist and soft during the harsh winter days. It helps that it has SPF 15 to protect your lips under the sun.

NARS Blush (Seductive): This is also another item I bought from the VIB sale, and it is a deep plum blush that is suited for the fall/winter. It's dark enough to where you don't need to contour your face. Plus, it's cool-toned so it gives you a shadow-y sculpted illusion.

The Balm Bahama Mama: Aside from the cute packaging, this is a great bronzer for contouring because it is matte and on the cool-toned side, so you don't look like an oompa loompa. Please check out my review on it here to see how it looks like.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Express: Cecilio got this for my for my birthday (thanks to his sisters' suggestions), and after using this for a while I can see why people go nuts over ABH brow products. It adds dimension to my brows without looking too dramatic. You can choose that though, or you can opt for a more natural look. It comes with stencils too for your brow shape, but honestly I don't use those.

MUFE HD Foundation (128): Okay, so I actually bought this on my 25th birthday in 2014, but I've used it all throughout 2015! At first, it accentuated my pores but I figured it was because it's a new product and my skin needed to get used to it, but I also needed a better skincare regime. My skin looks even, brightened and flawless with this baby.

Murad Clarifying Mask: I go to Massage Envy for facials, and they sell Murad products for skincare. My esthetician recommended me the Murad Clarifying mask for my nose (because it is oilier than the rest of my skin), but I actually use it for my whole face. I bought it in October but I just started using it a few weeks ago, and let me tell you how clean my face feels afterward. My skin feels smoother and less bumpy, and my pores look smaller. It's made of kaolin clay to purify and detoxify the skin, treat acne, and soothes sensitive skin (like mine!)

Neutrogena Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer (medium–tan): This has taken the place of my BB creams since it's lighter, but I can add as much coverage as I need. I like wearing this on my lazy no-makeup days, and during the summer when I don't feel like having a full-face of foundation melting off my face. Also, it has SPF 30! I brought this with me to Hawaii instead of foundation, and it has very light shimmers to give you a glowy look.

Too Faced Natural Matte Palette: Between this and the Tartlette palette (both of which are all-matte eyeshadow palettes), I chose this one. I like the warmer tones here better. I call this my "job interview" palette, because the shades are workplace-appropriate but make my eyes look bigger and brighter. It's also small and travel friendly!

Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint Lotion: Okay, so this is a seasonal scent from Bath and Body Works, but I don't care that I'm going to use it even though the holiday season is over. It is is a super-strong candy cane mint scent that I love, but have to be careful not to eat, haha. It has notes of cool peppermint, sugared snow (how is that possible?), vanilla buttercream, balsam and musk. I love the scent so much that it's a motivation for me to slather on lotion because my skin is dry as a desert.

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation (Honey): I bought this when there was a Too Faced event at my local Ulta, and the MUA's tried it on me. Of course, I couldn't resist the dewy finish, full coverage and lightweight feel. Also, this shade matches my skin tone perfectly!

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams: A classic beauty blogger favorite, I have most of the shades. But I want to talk about these particular 4 (left to right): Copenhagen, Budapest, Madrid, and Prague. I purchased Copenhagen in November and wondered why I didn't get it before! It is a gorgeous deep plum shade for the fall and winter. I have gotten many compliments on this shade, and it just makes me feel so badass wearing it. Praguee, the medium pinkish-mauve on the right is one of my favorite shades in this line. The ones in the middle, Budapest (dark mauve) and Madrid (deep garnet) are new shades that recently came out, and I am in LOVE! I have a hard time finding a good mauve lip color for my skin tone, but Budapest is it. When I get my paws on more of the new shades, I will do a review.
