Naked Smoky Palette

Any of you long time SophaaRambles readers will know, i love the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette, it was one of the first products i ever wrote about at the beginning of my blog but recently i have been trying other eye shadow products so it has been put to the back of my draw only be used on special occasions. When i heard that the Naked Smoky Palette was coming out and pictures started to surface online i knew i had to have it so when a girl in work told me she had been out to buy it and that they had lots left, i waited for the end of my shift and marched all the way to my local Urban Decay counter and bought one and i haven't regretted it since.

At £38 this is not a cheap palette but i wear eyeshadow every day and i knew instantly i would get a lot of wear out of it so i don't mind spending that much on a palette especially after my experience with the Naked 2 palette. I knew the shadows would be highly pigmented and that they would blend beautiful so it wasn't really a risk when buying it. However some of the colours i must admit i never see myself using them.

In the middle of palette are 3 more blue toned eyeshadows and blue really doesn't suit me so i can't imagine i will ever brave wearing them however every other shade is wearable for me even Smoulder which is a deep purple as purple goes with hazel eyes and helps to make them pop. As you can tell from the picture above i have been loving the shades on the left hand side of the palette, i have been using high (the very left shade) as an inner eye highlight, then using Dirtysweet the gold shade or Radar the bronze shade all over the eye and using the matte grey Password mixed with the matte brown Whisky in the crease.

I love that this has a range of shimmer shades and 4 matte shades because i am pretty sure that none of the other naked palettes have this many mattes in it and Urban Decay do amazing matte eye shadows which you will know if you have had any of the Naked Basics Palettes. A Smoky eye is my favourite look and it can be made appropriate for the day time or it can really be darkened for the evening/if you are going out on the town.

With the palette you get a little booklet which gives you advice on how to do 4 different smoky eye make up looks, the one above is my personal favourite which i will definitely try to recreate for a night out. If you aren't a make up artist, like me, and you just enjoy make up and the process of applying it this booklet is really handy. Also the brush that is included in the set is actually really good, you have the longer fluffier end which i use to apply the shadows and to blend and on the other side a little shader brush which i use for the inner colour highlight and to really deepen the crease shading.

I must admit i am slightly annoyed that there isn't a small sample in the box, when i bought my Naked 2 Palette it has a mini lip gloss in it and with the Naked Palette and the Naked 3 Palette you get a mini size of the Primer Potion but with this you get nothing and the price has gone up. Even though this is slightly annoying it doesn't surprise me as the popularity of the Naked Palettes has sky rocketed since the rise of the blogger and with good reason. They are amazing quality and the shades are beautiful. I would say that the Naked Smoky is beautiful but not essential, i would still say the Naked 2 palette is my favourite as i use every colour but this palette has a better variety and allows you to create that darker smoky looks which the Naked 2 Palette doesn't as the shades are all rather similar.

If you would like a post comparing the two palettes more depth please let me know and i will work on it for you and let me know what you think of the Naked Palettes in general.
