Sergio Hudson Wants to Be The Next Versace. Michelle Obama and Beyoncé Approve. - The Daily Beast

Posted: 14 Feb 2020 01:38 AM PST

A funny thing happens when Michelle Obama wears something you made, according to Sergio Hudson. The Los Angeles-based designer discovered this after dressing the former first lady twice last summer.

Obama wore two jumpsuits by Hudson, one in royal blue and the other in amethyst, both decorated with varying amounts of glitter, and bam—"We were getting RSVPs for a September show that I wasn't doing," Hudson, 35, told The Daily Beast. "People were asking, 'Who do we reach out to for your show?' I was like, 'I'm not having a show, but maybe we will next season.'"

Now, it is next season. True to his word, Hudson held his debut presentation on the first official night of New York Fashion Week. The theme was unabashed glamour in the style of Hudson's childhood icons, R&B heavyweights like Tina Turner, Sade, Anita Baker, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, and Pebbles. Models with Cindy Crawford bouffants walked slowly, dripping in fur, rhinestones, lamé, or a healthy combination of all three.

Tyler Perry Transforms into Madea as He Rocks Beyoncé's New Ivy Park x Adidas Collection in Video - AmoMama

Posted: 13 Feb 2020 09:30 AM PST

Tyler Perry recently transformed into "Madea" when he rocked the singer/fashion mogul, Beyonce's Ivy Park Collection, in a recent Instagram video.

Famous character, "Madea," made her entrance into the movie industry in Tyler Perry's 2000 play, "I Can Do Bad All by Myself." She's portrayed by Tyler Perry himself with granny-like clothes on, and speaking with a high pitched tone.

In the recent Instagram video, "Madea" is seen with her Ivy Park collection from Beyonce x Adidas. Earlier in the year, Beyonce launched her promotion campaign for the new Ivy Park collection.

The promo brought to light many celebrities from all over social media rocking the new collection. Tyler Perry transformed into "Madea," for what is probably her last public appearance, to show off the latest kicks from the Ivy Park collection.

Creative director and actor Tyler Perry already spoke about Madea's imminent end as he's interested in doing "things differently." Perry said,

"This character has been amazing. So many people have loved her"

Tyler Perry and Madea have come a long way since the franchise's 11 movies that were received with great anticipation. Well, not all of them.

The most recent movie from the franchise, "A Madea Family Funeral," was nominated in eight different categories of Razzie Awards for the worst movie of the year. The categories where the film was nominated include Worst Actress, Worst Screenplay, and two for Worst Supporting Actor.

A soundcheck stop by the Madea Farewell Play Tour, in Memphis, turned into a church!

It doesn't matter to the 50-year-old movie producer as he's greeting the closing days, of one of his most successful characters, with a joyful disposition.

Tyler Perry recently posted a video of him singing the popular church hymn, "How Excellent" with actors on set. The crew is currently on the third leg of Madea's Farewell Play Tour, and they only stopped for a soundcheck in Memphis. The video was captioned,

"... soundcheck last night in Memphis turned into church!!"

Perry then went on to thank Memphis for hosting them and hinted at the tours end in the coming weekend. This weekend's Madea show may be the last time that the hilarious and troublesome character will be gracing the scenes.

Nonetheless, Tyler Perry revealed that, even though the title of the last movie indicates that the funeral was meant for Madea, it wasn't, and he did that for a reason.

He said, "Noo, you can't kill her… I left the door because I don't want people to have a finality that she's gone." With Madea gone, for now, Perry is enthusiastic above the next phase of his career.

Days After Beyoncé's Grammy Snub for 'Spirit,' 'The Lion King' Joins the Disney+ Streaming Library - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Beyoncé may not have earned a Grammy Award for her work with The Lion King, still, fans of this movie are celebrating. Disney's 2019 reboot of The Lion King (finally) became available for streaming on Disney+. Here's what we know about Disney's photo-real adaptation of their classic animated film.

During summer 2019, Disney premiered its rebooted version of 'The Lion King'

Fans have never seen Simba like this. Disney released its photo-real adaptation of The Lion King on July 19, 2019. This movie, directed by The Mandalorian's Jon Favreau, featured the voice acting of Beyoncé, Donald Glover (Childish Gambino,) Seth Rogen, and Billy Eichner.

"Jon [Favreau] was really good about the 'Circle of Life' having a major hand in it," Donald Glover said of The Lion King, during an interview with Collider.

"I really feel that it's good to make movies that are global and metropolitan, in the sense of the citizens of the world, and making sure that we talk about how connected we are right now because it's the first time that we've really been able to talk to everybody, at the same time," he continued.

Its theatrical run brought the Walt Disney Company over a billion dollars, becoming one of the studios' most popular "live-action" remakes. Since its premiere, some fans were wondering when they could binge watch this movie on Disney's streaming platform, Disney+. Well, after months of waiting, Disney finally added it to their subscription service's library.

As of Jan. 28, 2020, Disney+ has the live-action version of 'The Lion King'

On Jan. 28, 2020, Disney+ added the 2019 rebooted version of The Lion King to its movie library, joining the original animated version of this film. The company is still perfecting its release schedule, as some movies released last year were available on Disney+ at its launch date during November 2019.

Most recently, Disney released its live-action adaptation of Aladdin to this streaming platform, during January 2020. Another movie released during the summer of 2019, Disney and Pixar's Toy Story 4 drops on this subscription service on Feb. 5, 2020.

Since the movie's premiere date, The Lion King soundtrack has been available on most music streaming platforms. That includes Beyoncé's Grammy-nomination album inspired by the movie, entitled The Lion King: The Gift.

Beyoncé earned multiple Grammy nominations for her work with Disney's photo-real adaptation of 'The Lion King'

A new song that appeared in Disney's feature film, "Spirit," was preformed by the Grammy-award winning artist, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter. She later earned nominations for the song in the Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Song Written For Visual Media categories.

Beyoncé's album, inspired by the story of The Lion King and African culture, The Lion King: The Gift, earned the Best Pop Vocal Album nomination. Unfortunately, music from The Lion King did not earn a Grammy award at the 2020 ceremony. (She did earn a Grammy Award this year for her Netflix special, Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé.)

The Lion King is now streaming on Disney+. To learn more about this streaming platform and to subscribe, visit their website.
