L - R: Laguna bronzing powder, Albatross highlighter, Orgasm blush. |
If you've been contemplating buying these Nars products then this is a must as it's the perfect Nars starter kit to any Nars newbie and it will definitely become your staple! This is certainly what happened with me! I was actually keen to try the Nars blush in 'Deep throat' after reading a lot of reviews (as a great step below the apparently more shimmery version that is the famous 'Orgasm'), but when I came across this at Mecca Cosmetica in store, I just thought it was gorgeous and I had always wanted to try out all three products at some point. So, this was the perfect opportunity, and I loved the huge mirror and the convenience and portability of a zip-around compact (something I hadn't come across before). As soon as I tried all three, I fell in love! The three products go together perfectly, and with the right brush (I use my favourite blush brush - Nars Yachiyo brush) appears flawlessly natural with a healthy glow! It really does enhance your face. This palette has really exceeded my expectation especially when I'm always a little sceptical about 'hyped' products. These are Nars' top 3 for a reason! For those of you that are already a fan and use these as a staple, then the palette is excellent way to carry around with you and it's better value for money compared with purchasing individually.
Colours
- Laguna bronzing powder: Warm brown with subtle golden shimmer which gives a healthy warmth and glow to the skin and can also be used to give a natural contour to the face. The bronzer appears much darker (hence, scary) on the pan than it does when it is applied. The colour is not too dark and is buildable so can be used on light to darker skins.
- Albatross highlighter: Off white (slightest hint of pale yellow) colour with very subtle shimmer that adds just the right amount of luminous glow/radiance.
- Orgasm blush: Peachy pink with gold shimmer. For some reason the gold shimmer does not appear to be as obvious or as big as ones I've seen in the individually sold orgasm blush in stores. I don't know if this is the case with all the blushes in these palettes or just the one I was given. Anyway, I prefer it this way! It's beautiful. In the second swatch photo below, I've added the swatch (shown on the left-most side) of Benefit's Bella Bamba (which I've also done a review on previously) just so you can compare the 2 blushes. The two have been likened to each other, and I would say they are very similar except that the Bella Bamba is definitely has more pink undertones, but they're shimmery effect is pretty much the same.

Size & Value for Money
Overall, this palette is excellent value for money @ $98 AU considering you get more for your money with the exception of the highlighter compared to purchasing them individually. A little surprising, considering they look smaller in the palette, but it is longer in size and a bit deeper than the individual products. The size & price difference are as follows (note, prices are obtained from Mecca Cosmetica at the time this blog was posted):
- Blush is 0.17 oz / 5 g compared to the normal sized individual blush, which is 0.16 oz / 4.8 g @ $49 AU
- Bronzer is 0.25 oz / 7.3 g versus normal individual size of 0.28 oz / 7.9 g @ $55 AU
- Highlighter is 0.09 oz / 2.7 g versus normal full size of 0.16 oz / 4.5 g @ $49 AU
So, basically you're getting the bronzer for nothing if you buy the palette!

L - R: 'Night' nail colour & 'Visions' nail colour. |
Colours
- Visions: Described as 'white-hot chrome': Pretty champagne colour. You could probably find a dupe for this elsewhere, but does go well with the black so you could pair them up on your fingernails and toes. Very modern look.
- Night: Described as 'holographic black'. This is the reason why I got the set! I've always picked this up to have a look several times when I was in store (very drawn to it!) and finally decided to buy it. :-) It's a very pretty black with a mult-coloured type of tiny glitter of slightly different sizes but not big chunks (mostly silvery and gold/copper). So it's a fun colour, but still quite classy and sophisticated. Can be worn during the day (if your workplace allows it!) coz the shimmer is not too much, and also perfect for a cocktail party! Another reason I love this is unlike other glittery nail polishes where it feels very rough to touch, this is very smooth - you can't feel any glitter at all!
Both colours are quite pigmented and come out opaque after applying 2 coats.

Size & Price
Each bottle contains 15 ml. The pair costs $40 AU.
Overall, I love this set, although my favourite is the 'Night' (black) colour - I would rather purchase this on its own because it's a bit more different and I suspect you could find other brands with the champagne colour. If you love monochromatic colours then you will love this!
