Hello ladies,
I'm not a primer person, I have always had bad luck with primers. In college I became adverse to them after trying cheap blur products only, like Garnier, Gosh and others. It's been preeeetty quiet since then around drugstore blurs, hasn't it? Now it's all about the L'Oreal sugar scrubs... as if I can't mix my own sugar with honey! Sigh.
Anyway! It had been very hot days this April and I noticed that, despite not wearing a lot of foundation and wearing some pretty good quality (Estée Lauder Double Wear) I noticed I looked like a nightmare by the end of the day, as if I had been baking in oil, despite using powder (which cakes on top of oily skin) and blotting paper (which ruins my foundation)... I guess it all didn't work. If I was going to be a mess, then at least I wanted it to be crater free. When my skin gets oily, the lights sort of casts a tiny shadow on each pore and it's vile. So I wanted to achieve porselain skin again.
I quite liked the Benefit primer, but I had never liked Benefit as a brand. It's pretty expensive and I reckon it's partly because it gets imported? I mean it's not very easy to get around here. Since Estee Lauder had been scoring pretty good for me lately I wanted to give them a try, when I noticed "The Smoother". It looked about as expensive as the Benefit Porefessional, but it had a more luxurious tube and Estee Lauder is quite good so it had to be a good primer.
The product is clear as water, the first thing I notice is that it applies very smoothly! There is no "texture", not even a bit. This way it applies very quickly and I barely feel anything left on my fingers. My skin instantly looks matter, even with less pores, a bit more bright and plump as well. It also feels less papery. I don't like to apply moisturiser underneath makeup, so I like that the primer makes me look more plump.
When applying foundation, I love how little product I need and how quickly my brush runs over my primed skin. My foundation also look a lot better and more natural. Everything is quickly covered. The product doesn't lose energy on my pores anymore, I guess.
So far, no breakout has been recorded. I do get some zits on my chin, but I always do, because it's the only area I still tend to pick sometimes. My foundation has since lasted better by the end of the day, I feel like I need a lot less touch-ups, then again, it's been a lot less hot as well. The poreless look does make me look younger though, I like that?
Is it worth the money? I do think so. It's a bit pricey at 30 euros for 30 ml, but at least you get something out of it, plus it's beautiful packaging, and it's available around the globe. I can recommend this product!
x
Helena
