| The Sweetest Meditation by Lord Echo & Mars TK |
I was going to do individual posts on each scent but, then I thought it best not to drag it out unnecessarily. If you find yourself in Poundland here's a little rundown of 4 scents that took my fancy. Admittedly they're not astounding smells and are dupes of fancier frags but their cheap n' cheerful and if you're out for a light bargain scent to perk up a budget lifestyle - buy one (I wouldn't recommend investing in any more than that) - and see where it takes your olfactory senses.
madonna - Divine
A dupe of Thiery Mugler Alien. This smells like the 00s - I think someone in my vicinity at school wore this so it's mixed with cold Christmas' and adolescent longing for freedom. Despite the bittersweet nostalgia, it's a pretty scent. Warm chocolate mixed with spicy candied fruits, great for cold winter months as a womanly refreshing scent. Out of all the scents, Divine has the most strength - although they are all weak in terms of fortitude. Now, I'm not a great fan of Alien, though I do see the beauty and strength in the formulation and silage. However, too much does give me a wince of a headache and this watered-down version is no different - 3 sprays and I'm kinda done with it.
Sheer Paradise
A dupe of Dolce and Gabanna Light Blue. If you like watery sugary lemons with a splash of musk then you must like Light Blue. Apparently, some men find this earth shakenly sensual on a woman and that might be because just like a roasted lamb you'd be tenderised with the citric acid in that scent ... and we all know how cavemen like their meat (rawr) ... Sheer Paradise is a pretty lemony scent that's very light and to me smells similar enough to D&G for this to be a casual spritz in the summer heat for the ride or die Light Blue fans - who may not want to use their favourite scent all day every day.
madonna - Goddess
I think this is a dupe of Olympia. This is a weird one as I was not familiar with this scent previously. It reminds me of Thiery Mugler Woman in its off the track metallic peach musk fragrance that is not you're typical run of the mill fruity frag. There's something quirky about it which hints at a woman with many talents - the kind you really shouldn't judge by her shopping habits (being in Poundland) her looks or her fragrance. When it dries down it has an almost coffee note that is soothing and addictive (and I don't even like coffee). Out of all the scents, this one provides the most intrigue.
9th Element
A watery sparkly Chanel No.5 dupe. Pretty with simple silage and longevity. It's a soft soapy refined scent that you could very much fall for. I have a handful of Chanel No.5 dupes and this is one of the easier on the nose scents that will not make you think of cat urine (arpege) upon the first sniff. If you're looking for something classic this is a good purchase and is an all-around the way crowd pleaser.
Best Feature
- A good range of different fragrances
- Not overpowering, will not announce itself in a room
- Very inexpensive can buy one fragrance you like and see how it works without much of a financial loss/investment
- A good range of dupes of much higher-end perfumes
Worst Features
- Not particularly long-lasting
- Doesn't have a strong projection
- Compared to more complex perfumes these scents are simple and make lack the complex depths many perfume heads are looking for
Best For - Budget Buyers & People who don't like strong perfumes
