A hair salon proved to be a cut above the rest when staff held a fundraiser in aid of The Chronicle Sunshine Fund.
Mango Love Hair, which is based on Carr House Drive, in Durham city's Newton Hall, agreed to hold a week-long fundraiser for one of their clients, Chronicle reporter Rachel Wearmouth.
Rachel is trekking the Great Wall of China for the charity, which buys equipment to improve the quality of life of disabled children in the region, and has a target amount of £3,100 to raise.
The salon donated a free cut and finish for a raffle and Sharon Weatherhead, manager of the salon, donated her tips for the day.
She said: 'We were very happy to do the fundraiser for Rachel's China trek for the Sunshine Fund. It is all for a great cause. It sounds like a great adventure. We just wish we were going ourselves.'
Rachel said: 'I get my hair cut at Mango all the time and, earlier this year, I told Sharon about the trek and the daunting task of raising £3,100.
'Straight away, the team offered to help out and I couldn't be more grateful to them for their kindness.'
